    Features

Built Around Your Burger, Not a Stock Mould

    01

    Sized to Your Burger Stack

Every burger box is dieline-cut to your specific patty stack: bun height, sauce zone, lettuce overhang, all of it. The bun does not get squashed in transit and the burger does not slide around as the runner walks it from the kitchen to the table. Send the build, and the box is built to match.

    02

    Brand on Every Panel

Full-colour offset printing across the lid, the base, the side panels and the inside surfaces where it lands in the buyer's eye on opening. The branding stays visible from the moment the box hits the table to when it lands in the bin. For events where guests photograph the food, the box becomes free social-media reach instead of generic kraft packaging.

    03

Hinged Clamshell, Made in One Piece

The classic burger clamshell: lid and base joined along one edge so the box opens on a hinge for fast service. Cut and scored from a single sheet so there is no separate lid to misplace. Closes with a tab-and-slot front, opens flat for the buyer, and stacks neatly behind the pass for high-volume runs.

    04

    Vent Holes and Steam Management

Optional vent perforations on the lid let steam escape so the bun stays crisp through the service window rather than going soggy by the time the burger reaches the table. Vent placement and pattern is custom; common positions are along the lid centre or as a logo-shaped die-cut on the front face.

    05

    Food-Safe Cardboard for Burger Service

Food-grade cardboard with a coated interior suitable for direct contact with burgers across typical 10 to 30 minute service windows. Handles standard burger grease and condensation without bleed-through onto the print. Outer panels stay print-receptive at full coverage so the brand artwork stays sharp on the customer-facing surface.

    06

    Window Cut-Outs for Burger Display

Optional window on the lid backed with clear PET film, useful for branded burger drops at events where guests can see the burger before they pick the box up. Common at wedding cocktail-hour stations, brand activation giveaways and gourmet pop-up runs where the burger is part of the visual.

    07

    Spot UV, Foil and Embossing

Detail finishes available where the budget supports them. Spot UV on the brand mark for a tactile gloss against a matte base. Foil stamping in metallic gold or silver for premium brand activations. Embossing for a raised wordmark on the lid. Finishes pair where the artwork suits the format.

    08

From 100 Units Per Burger SKU

Minimum order is flexible. We recommend 100 units per burger SKU as a starting point, so a two-burger menu starts at 200 units total split across two SKUs. One-off event runs and pilot batches are sometimes feasible below 100; flag the quantity at quote stage.

    09

Free Shipping with 8 to 10 Day Production

Production runs 8 to 10 business days from proof approval, plus 3 to 5 days transit. Free shipping covers metro and regional addresses Australia-wide. Rush production is available where the deadline is tight (festival weekends, brand activations, last-minute event drops); flag the date at quote stage and we will confirm whether the timeline holds.

Why Caterers, Event Vendors and Burger Brands Order Custom Boxes

The buyer for custom burger boxes splits two ways. The bigger group is events and catering. Wedding caterers running gourmet slider stations. Brand activations giving away signature burgers as part of a launch campaign. Festival vendors who want their burger drop to look distinct on a table next to half a dozen rivals. Corporate caterers running a branded burger lunch for a 200-person team day. The packaging is part of the experience for these buyers, not just a vehicle for the food.

The smaller but growing group is burger restaurants. Smash-burger spots, gourmet diners, boutique burger joints. Fast food and quick-service operators ordering custom rather than stock because the box on the takeaway counter does as much brand work as the menu boards. The branding stays with the customer all the way home and ends up in the bin with the logo facing up.

What both groups share: a sense that the burger box is too important to leave to a generic supplier. Stock kraft clamshells in generic dimensions look the same on every retail counter. Two burger brands holding stock boxes look identical at a glance, even if the burgers inside taste completely different. Custom solves that. For event-led food formats with a similar gift-style angle, see our printed gable handle boxes page.

Custom Burger Boxes vs Stock Boxes: What Changes

Stock burger boxes are mass-produced in generic dimensions and either come blank or come with the manufacturer's holding pattern. They are cheap per unit and they ship from supplier warehouses on short notice, which is why a lot of new burger brands start there.

The trade-off shows up quickly. Stock dimensions almost never match the burger. Either the box is too tall and the burger slides around in transit, or it is too short and the bun gets pressed flat against the lid. The brand identity sits on a sticker the staff hand-applies (which goes on slightly off-centre on every twentieth box), or on nothing at all, which means the customer's takeaway visual is whatever the supplier chose. Two competing burger brands look the same to a customer carrying both home.

Custom burger boxes cost more per unit. There is no quiet way to say it. The dieline is cut to your burger, the print is run on plates set up specifically for your artwork, and the production setup is unique to your job. That setup carries over the print run, which means the per-unit price will sit higher than stock, particularly at small volumes.

What the higher per-unit price buys: a box that fits the burger so the bun holds its shape, branding that is part of the box rather than glued onto it, and a takeaway visual that customers and event guests recognise from across the room. For brands serious enough about the product to care what the box looks like, that gap is usually worth closing. For operators still piloting a menu and unsure whether the format will stick, stock for the first few months and a switch to custom once the menu locks in is a sensible path.

For brands running both burger boxes and the matching fries cartons in one branded service kit, our printed fry cartons page covers the fries side of the same buying decision.

Clamshell Construction, Cardboard and Vent Hole Details

All burger boxes here are the traditional hinged clamshell. Lid and base cut from a single sheet, joined along one edge with a scored hinge, closed at the front with a tab-and-slot. The format is the one most buyers picture when they hear "burger box" and the one staff handle fastest at the pass: load, close, hand over, repeat.

Substrate options sit on top of the clamshell construction. Standard food-grade card for everyday print runs, kraft for natural-look brands and craft burger positioning, and white card for full-colour brand artwork at high coverage. Rigid or luxury board is not the right substrate for a burger that gets eaten within thirty minutes of plating; cardboard handles the service window and recycles cleanly afterwards.

Vent perforation on the lid lets steam escape during the short transport window from kitchen to customer. The bun stays crisper this way, which matters for fried chicken burgers and toasted sourdough builds where soggy is the worst outcome. Vent placement is custom and can double as a brand element, for example a logo-shaped die-cut centred on the lid. Our tuck-end folding cartons page covers the same vent and dieline approach in a non-burger context.

Window cut-outs are the other common request, especially for events. Clear PET film backs a window on the lid so guests can see the burger inside the clamshell before lifting it from the table. Useful at wedding slider stations, food-festival drops and brand activations where the visual moment matters as much as the eating moment.

From Burger Build to Branded Box: How Orders Work

Send the brief through the quote request form: burger build dimensions (bun diameter, total stack height including all the toppings packed inside the box), substrate preference, finish list, vent and window preferences, quantity per burger SKU and any artwork files. We come back within a business day with pricing, dieline suggestions where useful, and a production timeline.

Once you approve the quote, we send a digital proof showing the layout, dieline, vent placement and any finish callouts. Approve the proof and production runs 8 to 10 business days, plus 3 to 5 days transit anywhere in Australia at no charge. For burger drops tied to a launch date, festival weekend, wedding or event activation, submit the brief at least four weeks ahead so the timeline holds with breathing room. Rush production is available for time-sensitive jobs where the standard window will not stretch; flag the deadline at quote stage and we will confirm whether we can hold it, with the rush surcharge priced separately on the quote.

Minimum order is flexible, with 100 units the recommended starting point per burger SKU. For a smash-burger spot launching a three-burger menu, that means 100 of each clamshell as a starting position, scaling up once the menu is validated with the customer base. One-off event runs sometimes start lower; flag the quantity at brief stage and we will work out what is feasible.

Physical samples are available before bulk production. A printed sample shows the artwork on the actual cardboard, the vent placement in your hand, and how the lid closes against the base. Sample fees scale with the finish list; digital proofs are included free at proof stage. Reorders use the same artwork and approved spec, with the design phase skipped, though each batch runs the same 8 to 10 business day production cycle as the first. Resupply your approved files at quote stage. For event caterers running a full branded service kit alongside the burger boxes, our printed popcorn cartons page covers a complementary branded snack format used at the same kinds of activations.

    FAQ

    Have a question?

Browse the answers below, or get in touch and we will be happy to help.

What is the difference between custom burger boxes and stock burger boxes?

Stock burger boxes are mass-produced in generic dimensions with no branding (or supplier-applied branding), while custom burger boxes are dieline-cut to your specific burger build and printed with your artwork on every panel. Custom costs more per unit because of the dedicated print setup, but the box fits the burger properly and carries your brand all the way to the customer.

Why are custom burger boxes more expensive than stock boxes?

Custom requires a dedicated print setup for your artwork (plates, dieline, finish callouts) which adds a fixed setup cost amortised across the run. Stock boxes ship from a supplier's existing inventory with no setup. The per-unit gap is widest at low volumes and tightens as the order grows; for ongoing brands ordering 1,000+ units the difference per box is usually small relative to the brand uplift.

    Are your burger boxes food-safe?

Yes. Burger boxes are produced from food-grade cardboard with a coated inner surface suitable for direct contact with burgers across typical 10 to 30 minute service windows. Outer print-receptive panels stay sharp at full colour coverage. Flag specific service-window or substrate requirements at brief stage so the right materials go into production.

Can I add vent holes to keep the bun from going soggy?

Yes, vent perforations on the lid are a common addition for burger boxes. Steam escapes through the vents during the short transport window from kitchen to customer, helping the bun stay crisp. Vent pattern, size and placement are all custom; common positions are along the lid centre or as a logo-shaped die-cut on the front face.

What sizes can a custom burger box be made in?

Every burger box is dieline-cut to the specific dimensions of your burger build. Send the bun diameter, the full stack height including any sauces, toppings or sides packed inside the box, and the dieline is built around those measurements with appropriate clearance. There is no stock size range; every burger box is custom.

What is the minimum order for custom burger boxes?

Minimum order is flexible, with 100 units the recommended starting point per burger SKU. A three-burger menu typically starts at 300 units total, split as 100 per SKU. One-off event runs sometimes start lower; flag the quantity at brief stage and we will work out what is feasible.

How long does production take and do you offer rush plans?

Production runs 8 to 10 business days from digital proof approval, plus 3 to 5 days transit anywhere in Australia. For burger drops tied to a specific date (festival weekend, wedding, brand activation, launch event), submit the brief at least four weeks ahead. Rush production is available for time-sensitive jobs that cannot fit the standard window; flag the deadline upfront and we will confirm whether we can hold it, priced separately.
